Welcome to the Web Page of the Apocalypse Historical Research Society.

We are a non-profit organisation which has been formed by the desire of its President Mr.Zenon Katsourides and its members to establish the validity and correct evaluation of past historical events and assess their consequences, through the initiation of thorough and careful research based on the critical evaluation and scrutiny of the available evidence. Admittedly the search of the Historical Truth is an extremely difficult task.

Past historical events are susceptible to numerous interpretations depending on the differing perceptions or even the sheer prejudice or views of various authors and prevailing public opinion, factors which may influence the objective evaluation of events. There is a plethora of examples. The consequences of the Battle of Le Panto (Nafpaktos) which took place on the 7th October 1571 and resulted in the destruction of the myth that the Ottoman fleet was invincible are still subject to controversy. Going further back in history the enigmatic reign of Akhenaton as well as the fascinating personality of Ramses the Second still attract increasing attention. Furthermore unresolved issues arise regarding the conquests of Alexander the Great and the memorable campaign of Hannibal. More recently the Napoleonic Wars, the Greek War of Independence, the Slave Trade, the Opium Wars, the 1st and 2nd World Wars, the Armenian Genocide and the invasion of Cyprus by Turkey in 1974 pose fascinating questions.

Our Society is well aware of the difficulties which we will encounter and indeed this is why our motto is from Plutarch's life of Pericles "DYSTHIRATON ISTORIA T' ALITHES" in other words "the hunt for the historical truth is extremely difficult!"

The Society will extend its activities as time goes by to numerous fields of research and will report its findings on our Web Page. It will also announce the organisation of seminars of historical interest, as well as the results of research at various archaeological sites, museums and other places of interest. For this reason the Society is run by a Board of Directors (whose details you can access here above) and will be pleased to accept applications (through this Page) for full or associated Membership from anyone, who like us shares the desire to establish the real facts behind historical occurrences, which until now have been taken for granted. Additionally, information from like minded individuals and/or other Societies will also be very welcome.
